About the Guild

A few years ago I decided to have a go at making my own ball. It was awful. It wasn’t round and it was stitched very poorly. I had a blast making it though, and as soon as I was done I thought I could make a better one. So I tried again, and again. I’ve been in that headspace ever since and now there’s hundreds of balls in my apartment.

I quickly fell in love with ball making.

It's a very rewarding hobby. Each ball is a grind, but there's always a very satisfying payoff at the end when you get to play with the new spherical object you created.

When I started there wasn’t a lot of good ball making resources available. My process mainly consisted of making a lot of bad balls and trying new things each time. It was a slow process, and at times frustrating.

In 2022 I started The Ball Makers Guild. It’s a global community of ball makers with a growing database of ball templates and guides. It’s the thing that I wish existed when I first started ball making.

My hope is that this resource saves people time and makes it easier for people who are interested in ball making to get started.

Please note that all of the patterns on this website are intended for personal use only.

See you in the guild!
